The Autodesk development team is pleased to announce the availability of Factory Design Utilities 2022. This solution enables you to conceptualize, plan, and validate manufacturing facilities for optimized workflows and accurate equipment placement.

What's New in Factory 2022
Model States and Factory (What's New in 2022)
A powerful new workflow called Model States is added this release in Autodesk Inventor. Learn how Factory workflows function with Model States.
When publishing a part/assembly that contains multiple model states, Factory (FDU) assumes that all model states are of the same item. For example, if the main model is a square, FDU assumes that all model states are different interpretations of that square, not that one is a circle, and another is a triangle. Therefore must all have the same key parameters and the same key parameter values.
When using model states, the 2D representation used in AutoCAD may not always match the 3D representation. When publishing, the 2D representation reflects the active model state at publish time. While it is being updated to reflect parameter changes, it is always based on which model state was the active model state chosen to generate 2D asset at publish time and does not reflect the various model states.

iLogic Form Enhancement (What's New in 2022)
Now you can access the iLogic Form from the asset's context menu.

Manage Revit AnyCAD references in Vault for Factory Layouts (What's New in 2022)
Factory Layouts that include Revit AnyCAD references can be managed in Vault from the Factory Vault Integration the same way as regular Inventor assemblies.
Vault integration features let you manage libraries, store, view, and download assets using Vault Professional.
Assets stored in Vault appear in your Factory Asset Browser in a Vault Assets folder. The structure of the folder mirrors the library structure in Vault. If you add or delete a folder in Vault, the change is reflected in the Asset Browser.
The Inventor AnyCAD capability allows you to:
- Reference a .rvt (Revit Project) file as an AnyCAD model. See To Import Revit Files as an AnyCAD Reference Model.
- Import a .rvt (Revit Project) file converting the Revit elements to Inventor components.
You must install Revit interoperability functionality to interact with Revit models to extract and record building information. If you do not install the Revit interoperability sub component, you will not be able to import and export the Revit files

Inventor BOM settings in FDU asset publishing (What's New in 2022)
You can now access the Bill of Materials settings during asset publishing. The selected option reflects the Inventor Document settings. Changing it during asset publishing will change the document settings.
Publish Factory assets to use in all your factory layouts and use the Bill of Materials tab to access the BOM options during asset publishing.

Control the BOM setting from the "Convert to Assets" (What's New in 2022)
You can now control the Bill of Materials settings during "Convert to Assets". The selected option updates the Inventor Document settings.
Convert imported CAD models into factory assets using the Convert to Assets feature.
The Convert to Assets feature lets you convert imported CAD models into factory assets. If, for example, you receive component data from a supplier that you want to evaluate or run through collision detection, you can use this feature to quickly convert that data to a factory asset for placement in your layout designs.

Create a sub-layout of selected assets in Inventor (What's New in 2022)
Select multiple objects to create a sub-layout so that it is possible to break the specific items into various sub-layouts for individual designers to work on.
The Create Sub-Layout command creates a sub-layout within the current layout. 3D factory assets and/or Inventor part, assembly, existing sub-layout when selected will be included in the newly created sub-layout.

Create a sub-layout of selected assets in AutoCAD (What's New in 2022)
Select multiple objects to create a sub-layout so that it is possible to break the specific items into various sub-layouts for individual designers to work on.
Factory Design Utilities is an interoperable 2D and 3D factory layout and optimization solution that's used to design and communicate efficient layouts by creating a digital model of your layout. Factory Design enhances AutoCAD and Inventor software with direct-access to layout workflows and factory-specific content. Factory Design allows layout designers to begin their layout process in the desired Inventor 3D parametric environment or the 2D AutoCAD environment they are familiar with. Factory Design supports bidirectional associativity between AutoCAD and Inventor making design workflows accurate and efficient.
With Factory Design, you can easily generate layout designs in AutoCAD by using the 2D asset library. At any time, you can open your design in Inventor or Navisworks. Corresponding 3D assets are then automatically populated over their 2D counterparts. More assets can be placed, and modifications can be made in the 3D layout. At any point, the 3D data assembly syncs back to the original 2D drawing, updating all the AutoCAD drawings with the changes you made in the 3D model.
Note: The Factory Design Utilities solution is not only used to design factory layouts, but is also used to design and create all types of layouts from supermarkets to warehouses.
During this webcast, expert Rusty Belcher explored how you can plan, design, and install a more efficient factory layout with the latest updates to the Factory Design Utilities.
Autodesk helps people imagine, design and create a better world. Everyone-from design professionals, engineers and architects to digital artists, students and hobbyists-uses Autodesk software to unlock their creativity and solve important challenges.

Factory Design Utilities tutorials allows you to sample some advanced layout functionalities and efficient layout design workflows available in the Factory Design Utilities.
This tutorial workflow offers a one-to-one synchronization between your 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Inventor assembly models. Changes made in the 2D AutoCAD drawing propagate to the Inventor 3D layout, and changes in the 3D layout propagate back to the original 2D drawing. The bidirectional workflow provides veteran AutoCAD users with a familiar, easy-to-learn process for generating compelling 2D and 3D Factory layouts.
